PPV CORP Welding & Fabrication Process

At PPV CORP, we follow a rigorous pipe welding and pipe fabrication processes to ensure all projects meet ASME, API, AWS, and other industry standards. Our process is designed to deliver high-quality, consistent results for pressure vessels, piping, process systems, and structural components.

Step 1 – Design & Engineering
Every project begins with detailed engineering and design. Our team reviews specifications, materials, and codes to develop a comprehensive Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). This ensures welders have clear guidance for producing welds that meet mechanical and code requirements.
Step 2 – Material Preparation
We carefully select and prepare base metals and filler materials for piping fabrication and piping spool welding—including carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, aluminium, and cryogenic materials. Pre-weld treatments such as cleaning, bevelling, and pre-heating are performed as required by the WPS.
Step 3 – Welding Execution
Certified ASME Section IX welders carry out the welding using approved techniques, amperage ranges, and shielding gas compositions as specified in the WPS. Our in-house Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) monitor each weld to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance.
Step 4 – Inspection & Testing
All pipe spool welds undergo rigorous inspection and testing, including visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and code-specific verification. This step ensures each piping weld meets or exceeds mechanical property requirements and client expectations.
Step 5 – Assembly & Delivery
After pipe welding and piping spool inspection, pipe spool components are assembled into modular skids, pressure vessels, piping systems, or structural frameworks. Final QA checks ensure everything is delivered on-time, fully compliant, and ready for installation or service.

Common welding processes used at PPV CORP are:

  • MIG Welding - Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • TIG Welding - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
  • Flux Welding - Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Submerged Arc Welding - Sub-Arc Welding (SAW)

MIG WELDING (GMAW)
MIG welding is one of the easier types of welding for beginners to learn. MIG welding is actually two different types of welding. The first uses bare wire and the second flux core.
Bare wire MIG welding can be used to join thin pieces of metal together. Flux core MIG welding can be used outdoors because it does not require a flow meter or gas supply. MIG welding is usually the welding of choice for DIY enthusiasts and hobby welders who don’t have the money to spend on expensive equipment.

STICK WELDING (SMAW)
Stick welding, also known as Arc welding, is doing it the old-fashioned way. Stick welding is a bit harder to master than MIG welding. Stick welding uses a stick electrode welding rod.

TIG WELDING (GTAW)
TIG welding is extremely versatile, but it is also one of the more difficult welding techniques to learn and are skilled individuals.
Two hands are needed for TIG welding. One hand feeds the rod whilst the other holds a TIG torch. This torch creates the heat and arc, which are used to weld most conventional metals, including aluminum, steel, nickel alloys, copper alloys, cobalt and titanium.

Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
SAW welding is a high-productivity, automated process where an electric arc is submerged under a blanket of granular, fusible flux to join thick metal plates.
It offers superior penetration, high deposition rates, and no visible arc or spatter. Common uses include shipbuilding, pressure vessels, and heavy structural components
